WHERE IS MY DELICIOUS TEXTURE DUMBASS SCANNER ATE IT ALL
Guess what, I like butterflies. And I only have like, what, five deviations that actually have butterflies in them? Nonsense. There will be more, I assure you.
Yet another assignment for art class. I'm hitting serious crunch time right now. Basically by Monday I have to complete another 8 or so pieces. Not all of them are huge, only like 5 or so. Which will probably be uploaded as I finish them. Guh. Damn my procrastination habits.
So this one needs a little explanation. The theme was "nature" and we were told to interpret it. Which is to say, don't draw a toad in the grass or a big tree or something. Something that reflects your interpretation of nature. This is what I came up with. I wanted to run with the idea that when left to it's own devices, Nature will take over/reign/revert to its original state. So my painting was to be of a butterfly of sorts on an old decaying and moss-covered brick wall, with a rusted plaque. The plaque was to represent the human race, the more dominating and civilized part of it. I was lost for what to write on the plaque, but my dad gave me the idea of the Pentagon. I ran with that idea 'cause I loved it.
Soo I hope you enjoy. My teacher loved this.
Oh yeah, and done almost completely with watercolours, acrylics were only used for the little white highlights on the butterfly. And it's a swallowtail butterfly.
I love how much the butterfly pops too, I was thinking about toning it down a bit but I'm really glad I didn't. That mossy brick background was so incredibly easy it's ridiculous. xD
I actually got a totally different message out of this because I thought the Pen- was the beginning of the word Penitentiary. Anyway, I really love the texture and how the butterfly pops right out of the paper. Excellent job!
Thanks so much. <3
Lovely textures on that wall, the moss is just perfect!
