I have been working on this for so long, trying so hard to get it right, and now that its done I just feel...neutral.
I don't love it and I don't hate it, I feel very much in the middle. Unpleasant middle.

Inspiration for this came from various sources, though several of `Dianae's deviations were looked at quite oftenly throughout. I wanted the beauty of her females but I need a lot more practise. This is my very first serious try at drawing and painting humans. And I didn't use any direct reference, just many to try and eyeball how things should look.
I played around with her face so many times. Lengthening it, shortening, moving the lips, etc. I'm somewhat pleased with it now that its done, but so much more time could have gone into it. I was just afraid that I would completely lose interest in it and not upload it at all. Uploading as is, calling it safe. May go back and fix some things if I get some really good critiques.

The leaves, I've decided that I'm hanging pretty damn near borderline hate, and the branches are a little better, though not by much.

Anyway. Not good for the confidence to beat yourself up. Why should you bother criticising your own work, there are so many other people that will do it for you. And not always in a way that you want.

'Kay, so please, I would appreciate the comments and critiques. But keep in mind, I hardly ever draw humans. I little practice should fix a few of the flaws but mm.

Here's a 100% view of the face. [link]

Now I just have to try and get myself to finish this other digi piece that I can't seem to work on. Very much like pulling a cheese grater against my forehead. And I've used that phrase too much in the past little bit.

Well, I don't think it's too bad, especially not as bad as some of my humans anyway. In fact, I think it's pretty darn good for a first try. The only thing that really stands out to me about it is the eyes. They seem a little too big for her face.

If life is hard, you're not living it properly.
Did you know that thousands of kittens and puppies are killed in cold blood in animal shelters each year? And those are only the lucky ones. Those that aren't taken into homes or shelters die in the street

Nice colors... I think the anatomy of the face needs a bit of work though. Good job!

Oh wow, actually I am extremely impressed. I saw this piece and my jaw rather dropped. Your work has even improved since last I saw it (and it was always amazing so, wow)

I think the branches are stunning, I love how they almost seem to glow. The little moths (or butterflies, I forgot the differences aside from antennae) Are so beautiful, I love the colour of them. I think the face is really pretty too, I actually find the eyes to be an acceptable size as well. The crown type bit on her head is so pretty and interesting. Wow, some of those leaves look so real ^o.o^

I think you are being far too hard on yourself, I am so amazed by this piece and you should be too. You really accomplished something here.:blackrose:

Those eyes are just so beautiful and full of life...

I love the whole painterly effect to the piece. The skin is nicely textured, as are those fantastic leaves. :D

I have to say...the orby thing is my favourite. I just LOVE the way you've made it look transparent, yet refracting details from the image around it. Magical!

Smashing work, it's so nice to see something so out of your depth! <3~

For someone's first serious attempt at drawing and painting a human, this is pretty darn awesome. Keep it up. :)

Thanks <3

The eyes looked a lot smaller when they were eyelash-less. Yeesh. They do look pretty big now.

Thankyou!

Is there any spot in particular that you think needs work? I'm really keen on improving so any help will make a difference.

Waah, thankyou! :heart::heart:

Ohdeargod..reading your comment made me remember that I totally forgot to put any sort of antennae on the large butterfly. I'd better fix that when I get around to opening that file again. Oops.

I was actually tempted to tone down the eyes a bit. Glad I didn't.

I spent so much time on that skin. Seriously, I had so many different layers, each totally different. I must have had at least 8 copies, each looking nothing like the next. Took forever to get it semi-right.

The orb was actually inspired by =liiga's piece, Emerald Conundrum. There's a nifty little tutorial she set up and it went through the steps to make the orb. I kinda followed along that and then did my own thing.

Haha, it was kind of weird going out of my comfort zone but I will definitely be painting more humans in the near future!
