Artist's Comments

Finally.
'Bout time I do something about this.
Here is the main prize that I owed to :iconvibblesagain:. Full colour image of a character, and she requested for her character Enemis and for it to be done with pencil crayons.

I am extremely proud about one thing: I didn't use a single stroke of black anywhere on this image. I've always wanted to try ignoring that pencil completely, and since the one I have is about an inch long, I figured this was the perfect time to try. Especially since I planned on it being a rather dark toned image.
It was actually a pretty cool learning experience, seeing how certain colours can be blended together to make black, or a dark enough tone that it gets mistaken for black.
Mm, I spiced up the book a little in photoshop...it didn't photograph well. I NEED A SCANNER :omfg:

Its a lot more interesting to look at in real life, because you can actually see all the different colours if you look very closely.

What, glowing book on the ground? No idea.

This is actually the second time that I tried to do this for Viv. The first drawing was coming along nicely, I really liked how Enemis was coming out. Then I realized that I owed her a full colour piece and I had absolutely no inspiration for a suitable background, so I started over. I used way too much black in that one though, so it's not nearly as interesting to look at.

Anyway
Hope you like this as much as I do! And sorry for the wait! I've decided that I'm now giving myself deadlines for things. Dx

Wow...Enemis looks like something right out of a darker fairy tale. Nice job on the atmosphere and detail...

A scanner wouldn't help you much, a lot of traditional artists prefer to take pictures of their works rather than scan, I think it preserves the colors better in a photo. :3 <- They just ruined that face for me with a smiley, so I shall now type :3 just for you~

This does look rather interesting, with all the colors he looks like a digital being. Lol if you ever sharpened an image so much that it becomes a rainbow, then you'll know what I mean. XD

Wow.
I love the detail in the face and fur!
The feet look really good too (especially that back one there, very awesome lighting C: ).
The glowing book thing creates a really wonderful effect, and I love the counterlighting. :>

Fantastic work, Ko.

I think I need to start setting deadlines for myself too. :E

Omg! That's awesome! I can definitely see how much effort and time you put into this. It's fantastic, especially because you didn't use any black. That's crazy. I love the effect of the motley colours.
I love the background and way you presented him too. That's a pretty kickass fantasy/surreal setting going on. I love it. It almost seems like the window is a portal to an nightmare and then there's Enemis crawling out. It's perfect!
Thank you so much Kodes! I am completely blown away!

Fantastically done! And good for you for not using black, its not like there's a true black in pictures anyways :)
I love the grainy texture and the vibrant color of the book the most, it just pops out so well for a traditional picture!
Great atmosphere too, nice job Ko! 8D
